Biomarkers Included
2 biomarkersA celiac disease panel measuring Anti-TTG and Endomysium IgA. These two antibody markers are commonly used together to screen for celiac disease, an autoimmune reaction to gluten.
Why this test?
Celiac disease can cause the immune system to produce specific antibodies in response to gluten. Anti-TTG (tissue transglutaminase antibodies) and Endomysium IgA are two markers frequently used in combination because they may provide complementary information about the immune response to gluten.
Who is this test for?
This test may be relevant for:
- Individuals experiencing digestive symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort after consuming gluten-containing foods
- Those with a family history of celiac disease who want to check their antibody levels
- Anyone experiencing unexplained fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, or skin issues that could be associated with gluten sensitivity
What is tested?
- Anti-TTG Tissue Transglutaminase (u/ml): antibodies directed against the enzyme tissue transglutaminase. Elevated levels may be associated with celiac disease.
- Endomysium IgA: antibodies targeting the endomysium, a connective tissue layer. The presence of these antibodies can support an Anti-TTG finding.
What can this test tell you?
Elevated Anti-TTG levels, particularly when combined with positive Endomysium IgA, may suggest an autoimmune response to gluten. However, antibody levels alone are not sufficient to confirm celiac disease. A healthcare provider can determine whether additional evaluation, such as further testing or a specialist referral, is appropriate based on the results.
How is the sample collected?
A blood sample is drawn at a certified sample point (afnamepunt). There are over 750 locations across the Netherlands. The procedure typically takes around 10 to 15 minutes. After placing your order, you can select a location and time that works for you.
When is this test useful?
This panel may be useful when experiencing persistent digestive complaints, unexplained weight loss, chronic fatigue, or nutrient deficiencies that could have an autoimmune component. It can also be relevant for individuals with a family member who has been diagnosed with celiac disease.
What do the results mean?
Results are presented with reference values for each marker. Positive or elevated results may indicate the presence of an immune response to gluten, but do not constitute a diagnosis on their own. Negative results in someone who has already stopped eating gluten may not be reliable. A healthcare provider can help place the results in context and advise on any next steps.
Preparation
It is important to continue eating gluten-containing foods for at least 6 weeks before testing. Stopping gluten intake too early may lead to falsely negative results, as antibody levels can decrease when gluten is removed from the diet.
What happens after the results?
Your results are available in your personal dashboard, presented in a clear report with reference values. Because celiac disease requires professional confirmation, discussing your results with a healthcare provider is recommended, regardless of whether the results are positive or negative.

What We Test
This panel includes 2 biomarkers, each tested at a certified laboratory using medical-grade equipment.
Anti-TTG (Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase) is an IgA antibody test used as a first-line screening tool for coeliac disease. Tissue transglutaminase is an enzyme involved in tissue repair, and the immune system of individuals with coeliac disease may produce antibodies against it when exposed to gluten. An elevated result may suggest coeliac disease but does not confirm it on its own — further evaluation by a healthcare provider is always required.
Learn moreEndomysium IgA is a highly specific antibody test for coeliac disease. The endomysium is a connective tissue layer surrounding muscle fibres, and in coeliac disease the immune system produces IgA antibodies against this tissue when exposed to gluten. A positive result is strongly suggestive of coeliac disease, though confirmation by a healthcare provider is always required.

Undiagnosed coeliac disease can lead to nutrient malabsorption, iron deficiency, osteoporosis, and other complications. Early detection through anti-TTG screening enables timely dietary management. A negative result in someone already following a gluten-free diet may be falsely reassuring.
Endomysium IgA
Allergy & IntoleranceEndomysium IgA is a highly specific antibody test for coeliac disease. The endomysium is a connective tissue layer surrounding muscle fibres, and in coeliac disease the immune system produces IgA antibodies against this tissue when exposed to gluten. A positive result is strongly suggestive of coeliac disease, though confirmation by a healthcare provider is always required.
Due to its very high specificity, a positive endomysium IgA result strongly supports a diagnosis of coeliac disease. This helps healthcare providers decide on further management including potential biopsy and dietary intervention.
